A question on indiana-discuss made me realize that there doesn't seem to be a page (or at least an easily recognizable pointer from the front page of opensolaris.org) with a list of known repos and an explanation of their differences.
For example, I'm imagining a prominent link on opensolaris.org like "List of Repositories" and it would point to a page with something like the following info: Release (pkg.opensolaris.org/release): The default repository for users. This repository has a slow rate of change focused on an approximate six month release cycle and critical bug fixes. Development (pkg.opensolaris.org/dev): This repository typically has packages updated on a biweekly schedule and presents snapshots of development currently underway. Contrib (pkg.opensolaris.org/contrib): This repository .... Pending .... Extra (when it appears) There could also be a section for community repositories that would like to be listed. Life with solaris and blastwave for example. Discovering what repos are available shouldn't require culling through vast quantities on email threads looking for them. Just my two cents, Brock _______________________________________________ website-discuss mailing list [email protected]
