We obtained a SAN certificate back in November so that it will work with either address. What part of the SSL and FF 3.X don't work for you?
As far as rewriting http://opensolaris.org/ to http://www.opensolaris.org/....there's a particular can of worms which is mostly political huff and not my bailiwick.
