Hi all,

I've drafted a short document (based on the original http://opensolaris.org/os/communities/participation/ page) that describes how to contribute code:

http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Main/ContributorHandbook

Thanks for putting this together.

I would make sure that jbeck and Mark Nelson give review
comments before releasing this.

I would put the higher level concepts at the top, so
I would re-order and consolidate the sections as:

Contributing Code

 - varies (like you have)
 - sponsor process (like you have)

 - pointer to these:

   - "OpenSolaris" Consolidation (Install Community)
   - ON Consolidation (ON Community / Project)
   - Destkop Consolidation (Desktop Community)
   - SFW Consolidation (SFW Project)
   - X Consolidation (X Community)

Contributing Packages

Any OpenSolaris.org registered user can contribute open source
packages to the OpenSolaris contrib package repository under
the Web Site Terms of Use.

- mention these:

 - Software Porters Community
 - OpenSolaris Source Juicer (jucr.opensolaris.org)
 - Contrib Repo Process

Other things:

I would remove this since it will be dated quickly.

With over 386 fixes integrated, the ON code contribution program is the longest-running contributor program on opensolaris.org.

Notes:

The pending repo should not be discussed at this level, since
it is not a subcomponent of the Source Juicer application and
no longer independent. The contrib repo is the primary focus.
This simplifies discussions.

Also, the SCA is not needed to port a package, so should not
be mentioned above the Contributing Packages section. The
licensing rules for contrib are very different.

Cheers,
Jim
