Is it possible for [email protected] to silently drop mail?
Constantly getting bounces from it is driving me crazy...

Could you be a little more informative?

Let me try again.

Recently lots of posts to say xen-discuss@ have had a Reply-to: of
'[email protected]'. This seems to be something recent. I presume
they're forum posts.

Of course, I reply to all like any normal email, and get a bounce back
as per below. This is pretty annoying.

Ah, I can explain this. Jive, when it is set to send the forum posts to a mailing list, it uses a variety of parameters to send the message as an email to the list it is configured to send it to. One of the parameters is to respect the users' preference to hide their address and use the default instead.

About a month or so ago, I found that the settings for that default address and the software broke the sending of the messages and was frequently, if not entirely, responsible for much of the jive-to-mail gateway breakage. Having fixed that, you now get mail that you didn't before and with a 'no-reply' address.

I could, I suppose, set no-reply to /dev/null since it should be fairly self-explanatory that it shouldn't be replied to, but the bounce is a reminder of that. However, I have no strong preference either way so, unless there are those with objections to my doing that, it's a fairly quick and simple solution.
