Thanks, Jim. I think this info will help me retrace my steps and figure out what might have happened. (I know I expected the rename to also change the link title, so that is one of the problems I encountered.)

I recently renamed a page. I then proceeded to edit that page. Now, I have a couple questions based on what I see (or don't see).

I can't seem to recreate exactly what you did. :) What did you put in the "New page" field as the new name for the page?

I suspect you tried to put in the full path to the page and renamed the page as well. All you need in that field is the new name of the page, which is the last bit of the URL. If you leave the New space drop down menu set to the same space you are in, all that changes is the URL of the page (and the page's placement in the left nav). If you select a new space and rename, then the page is moved to that new space as well (not copied).
* I expected that newly named/edited page to show up in the left nav. (Docs wiki -> docs wiki collaboration space.) However, now the left nav just shows the old page name with a question mark next to it, indicating a link to a page that doesn't exist, I believe.

When you simply rename a page in the same space you change the URL to that page, and if you change that you change the location of the file in the left nav. However, that does not change the text you see referring to the file in the left nav (that text is the title of the page). To change the title you edit the file and change the text in the field above the main edit box.
