If it was only you, then I'd say corrupted copy in your local cache, but as at least one other person did experience it and the banner shows current values, I assume a bad proxy / rewriting virus/website-scanner (on Ubuntu?) or an actual browser bug. >From those the browser bug sounds most realistic.
