Do we really want to advertise RCs on Facebook or Twitter?

it's me who regularly posts to the social networks, including Facebook
and Twitter. From time to time (with no pattern) I also announce RCs.
However, I then clearly manage it's a release candidate.

I'm not sure what works best. I guess informing the world about an RC
makes sense, so people see progress being made, and interested QA
supporters can join early. It's just important to clearly announce it's
a RC.

I fully agree.
The initial comment was, that release candidates better are not promoted before they are spread around the mirror network.
And the Facebook article did not wait for that.

Cheers,
