installing the Widgets seems like a bit of pain, since it requires lots
of manual intervention installing the Smarty framework.
Would it be a problem to migrate the calendar view to the extension you
mentioned earlier before (which I could install much faster), or is this
too tedious?

I thought you had mentioned that you had already installed the extension
in a previous message[1]. :-)
I don't think it would be a problem migrating the view. I will look into
it, once I know the extension has really been activated from you.
