The former site was driven by three Plone add-ons (created in my spare time) which used messaging features of the CMS for that. But all theses are gone with the 'migration' to the new CMS.
You could get the source code of the former site (and add-ons) from the TDF repository at Github: https://github.com/tdf Because TDF decided to drop the use of Plone and the code on TDF's Github repository I stopped the further development of the add-ons and the buildout environment for the former Plone site. I moved to develop for the Plone community only yet.
