All,
My group is working to understand what does and will exist in the 'main'
and Webstack Repositories, in order to identify package dependencies for
the Blog, Wiki and Content Management offerings (e.g. Roller, MediaWiki,
Joomla! we intend to get into the Webstack Repository.
We want to take an approach that prioritizes where we get package
dependencies, something like:
0) It's already in base OpenSolaris ('Base')
1) pkg.opensolaris.org/webstack ('Webstack')
2) pkg.opensolaris.org ('Main')
3) You're on your own?... ('???')
From what we can tell at present:

Our questions:
a) Are there other Repositories in which these packages do or will
live in the
OpenSolaris 'world'?
b) Given we want each of our packages to install quickly (ideally
with a single
click or script), we're looking for suggestions as to how best to
satisfy
dependencies which don't exist in existing Repositories.
Possibilities include:
- Bundle the requirements into the package (Fedora Commons
already
does this with Tomcat -- we just had hoped to remove that
and use
something from a Repository)
- Add the required packages to one of the Repositories
- Point the user at The Right Place, for manual installation
(least desirable)
