It seems to be a JDK 1.6 bug for Desktop APIs to add/show system tray 
icons... If you get this message, then a sampoption java process is 
running for sure. Why it is not seen in the system tray is a bug (jdk?)
I would try first to kill the gnome panel to see it a reset would show 
the system tray (or kill the process):
pkill gnome-panel
or kill the process shown by:
ps -aef |grep sampoptions
