Hmm. The only difference I see is that the shell script operate within the contraints of the method credentials. However currently the SMF repository is open for any user to read from so the svcprop command will never fail as long as the property actually exist in the manifest. So now that we have a method script it is maybe more readable for an outsider to pick up the property values from there. Lars This message posted from opensolaris.org
