I agree that we should create a symbolic link so that /usr/bin/php 
points to /usr/php5/<latest version>/bin/php.  This way, user will 
easily know the location of php binary. I see that, this is currently in 
practice with 'perl' right now. With respect to 'mod_perl', it is now 
delivered as part of SUNWapch22m-php5 package and it is delivered under 
/usr/apache2/2.2/libexec/mod_php5.so. Also, with Nevada build 79, one 
should be able to use PHP by simply enabling Apache 2.2 service.

Please give a try with Nevada build 79 or above and see if this 
addresses your concern
