IMO, the feature-set of Squid on SXDE should be one that satisfies majority of 
the Squid community's needs.

We need data to assess performance impact (i'm not suggesting that you run some 
benchmarking experiments). "may impact performance" shouldn't affect the 
decision making at this stage unless there is strong evidence to indicate 
otherwise. I suggest that you poll the Squid community to get an informed 
opinion about features such as the following.
