Maybe there is some leak in WebTest. Can you try to run the the tests with JMX management enabled, and monitor the evolution of heap memory usage in a tool like jconsole? Normally, heap usage goes up till hitting the limit, the garbage collector kicks in and it usage drops to a low level, where it restarts consumption. Try to find a place in the graph where garbage collection does not work properly anymore.
