I've just replaced the Unix start script WebKit/webkit by a folder StartScripts containing start scripts for not only RedHat but also other flavors of Unix, like SuSE, Debian or NetBSD, plus a generic script that has been tested under Solaris and should run nearly everywhere.

If you put a link to these start scripts in your /etc/init.d folder, it will detect the location of the working directory automatically. It will also set the user and group running the app server as the owner of the AppServer script. The log and pid files are stored in the working directory by default, so it is not needed to run these scripts as the root user.

For instance, on the w4py.org server, the wiki user could restart the wiki app server instance independently, without needing root access.

The Webware installer will try to copy the most appropriate start script to the old loaction WebKit/webkit.
