No longer will my packages be so ridiculous!
Maybe I can actually get some work done without having to type such long package names!
:-)
Thanks

the Python people here and everywhere will look at you funny. Sure,
DBPool isn't very unique, but MiscUtils.DBPool is fairly unique... and
actually Tavis feels we should use something more unique in the case of
MiscUtils and WebUtils (and I don't disagree -- though as long as
Webware isn't globally visible it doesn't matter). In practice I really
haven't encountered this problem with Webware or elsewhere.
The Python community is more open than the Java community -- if someone
is already using a name, chances are we'll notice at some point before
too long. And if they're being private about it, then the first one who
goes public gets dibs ;) There's not big commercial interests creating
software and releasing it in one big chunk to the world, and there's no
underlying desire to cause programmer lock-in, and there's no fear of
doing a little editing when conflicts do occur. It's not that hard to
change names -- it's easier than typing com.katadinsoftware.util :)
(See, I already got it wrong!)
