All platforms I've used have a function which returns server side paths.
The function is not called serverSidePath on all these platforms, but
it does work with both relative and absolute url.
Can you give an example of a platform that offers this that isn't built as a web server module? (i.e., not ASP, SSIs, PHP; though I'm not even entirely sure PHP offers this)
Really the problem is: we don't know how to implement what you're asking for. *That* is why it is not in Webware. And no one is psyched about putting an implementation in that can be misleading or inaccurate, which is all we (outside of the web server) have available to us. Unless there's a way of implementing this that we don't know about. But, obviously, if there is such a way, we don't know about it.
