The Webware Wiki is currently in a very desolate state due to some
Chinese Wiki spammers.
Some users have tried to remove the spam manually, but that seems to be
even more difficult than Sysiphus' task.
I would help if some trusted users would be given the possibility to
delete the spammers' Wiki accounts, place their IP addresses on a
blacklist and rollback all changes made with these accounts.
...
Also, in the registration some sort of "captcha" might help that only
people with some Python knowledge can pass.
With the help of Ian, I have now revamped the Webware Wiki. All spam
sjhould be removed, and everything mentioned above is now implemented,
except the blacklists. Administrators can now very easily rollback
changes and remove abused user accounts, and there is a simple captcha
when you create an account. If this will not suffice, I will also
implement blacklists.
I was baffled to see how unapologetic egoistic these Chinese spammers
use Wikis like ours in order to do their marketing. One of them was
trading with packing machines, he did not even mind to use his real
email address for registration as a user.
I hope the Wiki has become a more enjoyable place now...
