In the 837I IG, in the 2310A loop,
Attending Physician Name segment, the field NM108 is required. NM108
is the Identification Code Qualifier and has these options:
24 Employer's
Identification Number
34 Social Security
Number
XX Health Care Financing
Administration National Provider Identifier (required value if the National
Provider ID is mandated for use. Otherwise, one of the other listed codes
may be used.)
We do not have social security numbers on
file for our many physicians. What is the meaning of the Employer's
ID? Is it the hospital's ID?
