Details:
This idea is that the buffer keeps records of all message types that are
received. And the user can at any time, filter the display of these different
message types.
I imagine this could be done with a sort of bitmask.
Example Use case:
A user prefers to not see join/part messages the majority of the time. But
every once in a while he wishes to look back and verify if someone has just
joined or left. User temporarily toggles-on the display of join/part
messages. User can now see all the join/parts for the entire length of the
existing buffer.
