Follow-up Comment #1:
Connection breaks because IRC is now a plugin; unloading this plugin will
disconnect from all servers.
Now all buffers created by a plugin are closed when plugin is unloaded. Maybe
it's not expected behaviour and can be improved (it will be in near future).
But at least, this should fix this bug.
