Follow-up Comment #1:
To compile with autotools, you must install gtk devel packages (even if you
don't build the Gtk interface, which is not working by the way).
But as you can read in the user guide, the recommended way to compile WeeChat
is with cmake (it's a lot faster than autotools, and gtk is not needed).
