Follow-up Comment #7, bug #35443 (project weechat):
No, config files should be saved with terminal charset, not UTF-8, because
user can edit these files (while WeeChat is running or not).
WeeChat will convert content to internal charset UTF-8 when reading them, and
will convert from UTF-8 to terminal charset when writing them.
