I usually specify the python version explicitly, rather than rely on the "hash bang <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shebang_(Unix)>" in the application's file.
*python3 /usr/share/weewxd* rather than */usr/share/weewxd* or *weewxd* That way, you know exactly what you're getting.
