The instructions said to run "sh ~/weewx-data/scripts/setup-daemon.sh" and I had no weewx-data . I looked over the instructions again and I now realize I did not create a station. That would have given me the weewx_data folder. Your description of what creates the weewx_data folder clued me in. Thanks for taking the trouble to explain things.
