new question: how do i modify and recompile a go package?

i did a ‘go install rtlsdavis@latest’ to get the latest module.
i am probably supposed to do something else to fetch in an editable format, but
i don’t know what it is.
i updated the module source directly [no doubt the wrong thing to do] but no
idea how to re-make the rtldavis binary from that
