A US man collected 200 newspaper coupons offering
�130 off a car and tried to swap them for a �26,000
Toyota. But when Chris Sheilds, from Maine, took the
coupons to a dealership he got short shrift. Mr Shields
said nothing in the ad limited customers to one coupon
per car. He had been hoping to get a 2002 limited edition
Toyota Sequoia. The dealership owner told Shields he
wouldn't be getting the car with the coupons and
suggested he get a lawyer.
And here's news from my own country...
A Belgian radio DJ ran around Brussels market square
wearing nothing but a pink feather after losing a bet. Peter
Van de Veire had bet a version of Puddle of Mudd's "She
Hates Me" by classical Scala Choir would not win a hit
contest on his station Studio Brussels. He promised he
would run through the main market square in Brussels with
only a pink feather covering his backside. "The words were
out of my mouth before I realised what I had said," he told
De Morgen. The unlikely cover version was duly voted
number one by listeners following a campaign on the
choir's website amd support from rival DJs. Van de Veire
added: "When I noticed they indeed had won, I decided to
get on with my promise as quickly as possible. Some tourists
looked quite amazed and some shouts came from the
police station on the market place but no one came out
to ask for my papers. Next time I�ll think twice before
promising to run around naked. Or I'll do it in the summertime."
A Russian man had to be rescued after his penis
stuck to a frozen bus shelter while he was urinating.
The young man was on his way home from a bar
in the southern city of Stavropol, in temperatures of
-30C. He stopped to urinate, leaning against the bus
shelter for support, but swayed at a crucial moment
and his penis stuck to the frozen metal. The BBC
reports the man was apparently taken by surprise
by the cold temperatures, as Stavropol is normally
one of the warmest Russian regions. A large crowd
gathered, shouting advice. Finally passerby Valery
Levchenko was able to free the man using a kettle
of warm water borrowed from a chemist.
