Two Chilean artists have opened an exhibition of
artworks made out of human body parts. Carmen
Ariztia and Francisca Aninat's 'Hand-made' exhibition
includes hairbrushes made out of hair and crosses
made out of bones and teeth. Aninat also paints
canvasses, rips them into pieces and then sewes
them up again to create what she calls "paintings
full of scars". Ariztia told Las Ultimas Noticias: "I
am interested in the fact that people can only perceive
their world through their bodies." The exhibition is
on display at the Corporacion Cultural de las Condes
in Santiago.
A Californian man has successfully sued an airline
after two chunks of frozen toilet waste landed on his
boat. American Airlines were ordered to pay �2,000
to Ray Erickson, from Santa Cruz. Mr Erickson sued
the airline in the small claims court after the ice
damaged the skylight of his boat. Mike Fergus, a
spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration
said he was surprised at the decision. "I'll be darned,"
said Mr Fergus, who hadn't heard of any similar suits
succeeding before.
A Chinese zoo has agreed to suspend its policy of
allowing visitors to shoot some of its animals. The
zoo, in Dandong, rented out rifles and allowed people
into special areas where they could shoot the animals.
It was seen as a unique attraction to bring in more
visitors but led to numerous complaints from animal
lovers. Zoo staff defended themselves, saying visitors
were only allowed to kill unprotected species. But they
have now agreed to stop letting visitors shoot animals
altogether, reports the South China Morning Post.
