An Indonesian cannibal has been jailed for five years after
he dug up the corpse of his 80-year-old neighbour and ate
parts of her. Sumanto, 30, was judged to be sane by the
court in the central Javanese town of Purbalingga, 250
miles south-east of the capital Jakarta. Police found parts
of the corpse buried under his house, while other parts of
the woman's body, which had only been in the ground for
one day, were arranged on a dinner plate. Sumanto, who
uses one name, told officers at the time he believed eating
the flesh would give him supernatural powers. His lawyers
are to appeal.
An Indiana man is suing a restaurant which he claims sold
him a sandwich covered in blood. Charles Schapson says
he purchased the roast beef sandwich in February of last
year from Arby's restaurant. The 43-year-old said he didn't
notice the blood until he had eaten the entire sandwich.
"I looked down at my hand and my hand is covered in blood,
the wrapper is covered in blood," he said. When he returned
to the restaurant he confronted the manager and an employee
who he claims had fresh bandages on his hand...
A Chinese woman is suing her neighbour after he named
his dog after her and cursed it in the street. Lin Ling , of
Wulong, Chongqing Municipality, said she had often quarrelled
with her neighbour Fang. Then, not long ago, Fang bought
a dog and called it Ling Ling, reports the Hong Kong edition
of China Daily, quoting the Chongqing Morning Post. Lin
complained that he called out the name not only at home,
but also in public places. He even cursed the dog while
calling her name, Lin said. Lin is demanding �75 in
compensation for Fang's behaviour, which she says is
damaging her reputation.
