A fruit vendor fainted while chasing a man in a gorilla suit
who had stolen a bunch of bananas from her. The woman
had to be taken to hospital after a crew filming a Candid
Camera-style TV show targeted her shop in Hong Kong
on Saturday. When the man in a gorilla suit grabbed her
bananas, she hit him with a broom and chased him out of
the shop before collapsing. She later told reporters "All I
saw was something big and black with a lot of hair. When
I realised it was a gorilla, I collapsed."
A man has been jailed for 50 days for dissecting his
daughter's guinea pig believing it was a government spy.
Benny Zavala, 35, who has already served the time, was
also placed on three years' probation. He was also ordered
to seek psychiatric and drug counselling. Jurors in Ventura,
California, convicted Zavala of cruelty to animals for starving
the animal to death and for being under the influence of
methamphetamine. "It's not often you have someone this
paranoid from using drugs that they think a guinea pig is
spying on them for the government," Deputy District Attorney
Tom Connors said. The paranoia was apparently a byproduct
of Zavala's methamphetamine use, not mental illness.
Two men could face 18 year jail sentences after being
charged with stealing a railway bridge and trying to sell
it at a local market. Police in Campia Turzii, Romania,
arrested the 32-year-old and 37-year-old after catching
them allegedly selling parts of the bridge. The pair had
taken the 30 foot bridge, which crosses a small local river,
apart piece by piece. Police say the theft caused massive
delays to local rail traffic as trains were diverted.
