Police in Belgium have finally caught up with a man
wanted on suspicion of murdering his wife in 1989 after
he appeared in a pigeon fancier's magazine. Marcel
Pirson eluded the police for 14 years after changing his
name and moving house. But the suspected murderer
was caught when an officer spotted his picture in a
pigeon breeders' magazine. Pirson, originally from
Dinant in southern Belgium, was questioned in 1989
after his wife was involved in a fatal car crash. It was
at first thought the crash had been an accident, but
further investigations led police to believe his wife had
been murdered.
A gang of robbers who raided a house in Argentina threw
a party in front of their victims. The three men ate a meal
and danced to the radio before driving off in their car. One
of them donned sunglasses and performed a version of
Michael Jackson's moon walk, reports Clarin online.
Householder Marta Bugani told police the men demanded
money and, when told there was none in the house, stole
a TV, video camera, clothes and pots and pans. She said
they ate a meal they prepared from fridge in the home, in
La Plata, which they washed down with bottles of beer.
A Dutch funeral director has sacked a hearse driver for
losing a coffin on the way to a funeral. The driver was on
his way to a cemetery in Amsterdam when the back door
of his hearse suddenly opened and the coffin fell out. The
driver did not notice anything amiss and he carried on to
the cemetery, leaving the coffin in the middle of the road,
reports Het Parool. A bus that was following the hearse
pulled up and the driver stopped to pick up the coffin - but
not before the incident was spotted by a rival undertaker
who phoned the hearse driver's boss. "I thought he made
a joke," said hearse driver Lucien Van Wijngaarden. "But
when I went back I saw it was indeed my coffin."
