DEVELOPER FRIENDLY SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR

YouDo is growing and we're now looking for a developer friendly
systems administrator.

We're now over 5 years old, and look after a wide range of mission
critical web based applications, not to mention over 60 virtual
machines (and counting). Our success has now got us to the point where
we need someone full time to help us manage and improve our
infrastructure. As well as meeting the requirements we've listed
below, we also love our new system administrator to be able to liaise
with and understand our developers needs, and perhaps even be able to
code a little bit of Ruby.

We pay well, have a great office down in Courtenay Place, have a great
bunch of people, enjoy our Friday afternoons, and most of all, we love
our technology and making a difference.

Tasks:
* Management and maintenance of 60 VMs (and growing)
* Managing and building server configuration scripts (we make heavy
use of capistrano and deprec)
* Developing and running monitoring system(currently using Munin and
very much open to change)
* Extending and running backup systems
* Management of infrastructure security
* Document all actions performed, all changes done by scripts - no
shortcuts
* Working with developers to commission new VMs

Requirements:
* Aggressively focussed on uptime, security and data safety
* 5+ years experience using Linux, preferably Debian/Ubuntu
* 5+ years experience handling databases (MySQL and Postgres)
* Proven experience using server configuration scripts to build
servers
* At minimum, Ruby friendly
* Ideally, experience doing dev ops

INTERMEDIATE TO SENIOR RAILS DEVELOPERS

We’re looking for intermediate to senior Rails developers to come and
join the team here at YouDo.

We're now over 5 years old, and look after a wide range of high
profile Rails based applications. The demand for our services is
only on the up, up, up, and we need developers, developers,
developers.

You’ll need to be able to write good clean Rails code, backed up by
good, comprehensive specs. You’ll enjoy agile. You’ll need to be able
to talk “business” with our customers, understand where their pressure
points are, and what you can do to alleviate them. You’ll be careful
and diligent, but at the same time open to new ideas. A decent
sprinkling of HTML, CSS and JavaScript magic would come in mighty
handy too. As would a sense of humour.

We pay well, have a lovely office down in Courtenay Place, have a
great bunch of people, enjoy our Friday afternoons, and most of all,
we love our technology and making a difference.

We'd prefer permanent employees based here in Wellington, but if
you're good enough we're open to remote working.

Requirements:
* At least 3 years solid production Rails experience
* HTML/CSS/JavaScript skills
* Experience with agile methodologies
* Excellent client liaison skills
* Good sense of humour

If you're interested in applying for any of these roles, or want to
find out more then please drop us a line at [email protected].

We look forward to hearing from you.
