At Railscamp last month I initiated a discussion session on what to do with Wellrailed meetings. I've been running them since late 2006 (yup, closing in on seven years!!) and in the last year have had a number of other things happening that have drawn my focus elsewhere, which has been noticeable in that a couple of recent months have been missed due to a lack of presenters etc...
What resulted from the session is that a group of people have stepped forward to actively be involved in growing and enriching the community and that we're looking to refresh the formats of the meetings, the first of which is this Thursday (details below). The main two changes are that meetings will now be run from Meetup, so you'll need to RSVP. Secondly we'll be holding the standard presentation based meetings every second month and experiment with some new formats, like community evenings, meeting up for dinner or drinks etc..., in the off months. So this Thursday the 25th of April we're treating as an "off month" and running a WellRailed Community Day at the Enspiral Space (www.enspiralspace.co.nz) from 10am - 6pm. See our meetup group for more information and to RSVP : http://www.meetup.com/wellrailed/events/111251202/ " The Wellington Ruby on Rails group (WellRailed) is meeting together on April 25th for a day of hanging out, hacking on code, and helping new people get started with Rails. It's a bit like a mini rails camp and is going to be pretty free-form. There will be pizza. There will be a "boot up" corner where people who are new to Rails can get help installing it on their computer and running through the basics. But most importantly, there will be a room full of people who love web technology and are keen to be a part of the community. Come along! And bring a laptop if you can. =) " Sorry about the late notice for if you'd not already spotted it on MeetUp, I'm entirely to blame for that. But there will be another in two months for if you can't make it. Also of note is that the NZ Railscamp organisers from Wellington and Christchuch are working towards forming an official Ruby NZ orginasation to host RailsCamps and larger events under. We'll also be looking at making this mailing list the official/main Ruby NZ mailing list. I'll keep you posted on progress. --Nahum -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "WellRailed" group.
