To answer your question why 20390 isn't at Aberdare Martin, you may
recall that a couple of years ago, a number of the R- DHB batch were
in the Reserve Fleet, still fitted with their original dual purpose
grey moquette seats.  I think this was as a consequence of the
withdrawal of most journeys on Service X16 following competition from
the re-opened Ebbw Valley railway line.  At the time, Aberdare had a
number of M- LAX and M- RAX examples in use on Service 172, which had
previously lost their dual purpose grey moquette seats in favour of
blue 'beachball' moquette bus seats.  These were due for withdrawal,
and the newer bus seats were therefore exchanged with the dual purpose
seats in the R- DHB batch.  20390 went back into service at Cwmbran in
September 2009, but because Aberdare only required six Volvos for the
five workings on the 172, 20390 was not required to transfer, nor to
receive new seats.  It has stayed at Cwmbran as a consequence.
