I also despised them at first and used to refuse to get on them and
wait for the Coastliner. However I didn't mind the later 709D
combination as much with Alexander bodywork, or even Plaxton
bodywork.

Incidentally I remember one of the L608Ds from the D-VCC batch being
set on fire in an arson attack in Llandudno Junction depot around this
time, it later got repaired. You weren't playing with matches by any
chance were you Simon ;-)
