>Newport Bus no.6 [YN57 FZY], Scania Omnicity. Photographed entering the >picturesque town of Usk while working new route X25 from Newport to Monmouth >via the A449; calling in at Usk and Raglan. Today was the first day of >operation of the route. > Nice pic. I wonder what effect this will have on the Monmouthshire-subsidised Service 60 between Monmouth and Newport, operated by Ward (Town and Country Bus)? Personally I’m not convinced the X25 will generate enough custom to be sustainable, but who knows. Whatever - Scott Pearson, Newport’s MD, has spoken in the South Wales Argus today of his desire to explore other ‘Express’ routes. He muses why there can’t be a Chepstow – Swansea express for instance, or one that goes through the valleys. It’ll be interesting to see what further develops out of his musings, if anything.
