The T4 currently only operates as far south as Merthyr Tydfil, where
passengers for Pontypridd and Cardiff have to change to Service X4.
The early March changes will see the T4s replacing the Merthyr to
Cardiff 'shorts', and thus remove the requirement for changing buses.

You may be thinking that the service has been intentionally split at a
given point, like Veolia's X63/63 at Abercraf or Stagecoach's 172/72
at Bridgend, to allow drivers to operate to domestic driving hours
regulations ? However this is not the case here because the T4 and X4
are currently two different services operated by different depots.
