Oh dear, what have we here.... Padarn Bus Mercedes Vario 0814D / Alexander NUI 6002 (fleetnumber 204) is pictured in Deiniol Road on local route 72 to Bangor Pier. I believe this vehicle was new to Midland Fox, later ARRIVA Fox County, as P121 HCH. Once as common as dog muck, van->derived Minibuses are now very much a dying breed on stage services.

Yikes - so much for nostalgia.

I know these types of buses were very important in the deregulation era and were probably the only way that many companies survived the immediate aftermath.

But as far as I'm concerned, the sooner they're history the better. (As you know, I've never been a minibus fan, Steve.... :-)

When I first joined the Ambulance Service some 25+ years ago, we used to call the vehicles that we used then 'breadvans' - thank God design and technology has moved on to something a little more suitable for patients and staff alike.

I think it's largely the same in the Passenger Transport business. Thankfully!
