Having been involved for 5 years now my advice would be dont!, however somebody told me the same 5 years ago and it didnt stop me!
Storage is the biggest issue, under cover and dry is best both to stop the weather and to stop any ‘enlightened’ individuals taking an interest in it. If it has to be outside try to protect it from frost/rain as much as possible even if that makes it look untidy (tarpaulins or masking tape for instance). Find the parts that you need to get it into the condition you want it in (seats/internal fittings/destination blinds etc) as they’re likely to be available now but won’t be in a few years time. Again, get any spares you can now if they’re available at scrap rates, they’ll soon become scarce. Even better if it’s the very last of the type as the company may well just want to get the parts out of the stores as quickly as possible. If you can find somebody that’s worked on the type, or the vehicle itself, then find what the common faults are and stock up accordingly. Without they’re offering to help pay for it, don’t listen to anybody who tells you what livery or condition to restore it to!
