Pete, they're more a pain in the ass during the winter as the sun is low and the shadows are long. In the summer it is better to stand one post behind the pelican crossing and in the winter one post in front of the bus station junction. Work the lamp post as best you can by standing five metres 'directly' behind the shadow, so effectively its out of vision. Long vehicles are a little more difficult as if you shoot to early you get the shadow of the far lamp post clipping the back of the vehicle. Also 1330 is about the best time in the winter as when the sun moves round the shadows become more acute to the road and closer together. It's a bit of a challenge really!!!
