Thanks Simon

I must admit these days to having a soft spot for the native MPDs in
the fleet, particularly ones that have operated from Abersywtyth and
its outstations over the years. Like yourself I have sampled some very
spirited runs on some quite scenic routes over the years, this one in
particular on the no longer operated 38 service between Barmouth and
Tan-y-bwlch.

The X94 in fairness mainly is allocated some ex KMP, B7RLEs in place
of the Commanders which appear to have moved to Bangor. I would
suspect the MPD is been utilised as a spare cover bus on the service.
Indeed on turning up at this location I was actually hoping a MPD
would turn up with reports that 815 T565 JJC had been on the service a
few days prior so was quite pleased to see 824! Whilst an MPD is not
ideal for capacity they do provide some extra interest and are nippy
on the route. Gone are the days Wrexham had full size Darts to cover
in the realms of 7532 N532 DWM or 7550 R550 ABA which were used alot
when Commander 2513 CX05 AAN was VOR with engine troubles.

GHA who operate evening turns on the service from observations turn
out all kinds of MPDs (in various liveries) and even Solos. Sunday
operation as the T3 you will find typically the Gold Service (branded
for Wrexham area) MPD, BA05 GHA in use or one of the fleet livery
examples, sometimes a Solo or Cadet can also be found. I would rather
a MPD over a Solo any day of the week!

Chris.
