I agree with you, but i looked at gaim 2.0, and they have the "order by
status" option. So, it might be something users like/use/required.
It's a feature we could implement if we rewrite the contact list to take
advantage of the model/view system of Qt, but it can't be done for 2.1.
I don't think this drawback should block the inclusion of the patch for 2.1.
