Follow-up Comment #1, patch #815 (project wesnoth):
IMHO it's a bad idea to change ABILITY_CURES, since in most cases cures is
used together with heals +8, it's handy to have a macro that do both at
once...
I think it's better to leave the actual macro a make a new one with a
different name (ABILITY_UNPOISON for example) if you really want one for cure
without healing.
