Follow-up Comment #1:
Yes, if you didn't defeat the dwarf leader, then you get no early finish
bonus. You only get it if you beat the dwarf first.
Of course the objectives didn't tell you this, but it's something I've
actually already clarified in 1.5.5+svn, as part of the new gold carryover
stuff.
