Details:
I would like to make a suggestion of implementing for every unit a minimum
number of hits which are always successful. The effect should be somewhat
similar to the solution from Heroes of Might and Magic - damage is random in
general but some amount is guaranteed.
I know that the matter of randomness has been discussed a number of times. I
know that's on the list of frequently proposed ideas. I know that probably
I'm violating some rule. But having read this
http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=222853#222853 I feel must say
it:
Do you think that Battle for Wesnoth should be the most realistic game out
there? Do you think that people want to play a game which is frustrating and
makes them lose with little fault of their own? Have you heard that one of
the most basic things about games is the fact that the outcome should depend
more on the user's action than on a dice roll? Do you think you know better
what makes the game fun than the users themselves?
Don't get me wrong, I think Wesnoth is great. The very best of open-source
games, the most complete and playable. But it's the same thing I felt about
Disciples II - I gave up the otherwise excellent game because I had little
influence at the my losing and wining,.
Okay, you may know mark this as "won't fix" if you wish.
