Details:
Currently it is impossible to directly join a multiplayer game on the MP
server in trunk. The button for joining is grayed out. You can only join the
game (while it is not started yet, but waiting for players!) as observer
(this is done when double clicking!) and the host can assign you into one of
the player slots. The problem with this is that you can not join any games
where observers are not allowed, since you got to join as observer first.
How to reproduce:
1) Start two instances of Wesnoth and join the mp server with each.
2) Open a game with instance1 (don't allow observers).
3) instance2 will see the game shown in the lobby, but it is not possible to
join the game (the button grayed out, even though the game is in effect not
started yet and slots for players are still open).
Expected result:
Until the slots are filled up, the game should appear "green" in the lobby as
"looking for players", this does not happen. The button for joining should
also be available.
If you allow observers in 2) you can doubleclick the game (or click
'observe') and are added to the list of people viewing the game. From there
the host can assign you to a slot, though this is of course not possible if
no observers are allowed.
Summary:
Games with >1 player that are not on the same machine where observers are not
allowed are currently not possible. This is a blocker for 1.9.0.
