Your patch is still not fine. Please do not "simply shorten" strings.
Explicitly check them with the files po/wesnoth*/wesnoth*.pot. You can
download them using the webinterface:

Go into the subfolders, view the .pof files and look for what you want
replaced. It has to be *exactly* in a line. One sample of a replacement that
does not work:
+("and numerous. I'm sure they'll eventually evacuate.", "and numerous. I’m
sure they’ll eventually evacuate."),
Most likely there are many others like this left, but I don't have the time
to go through it myself.
Regarding whisper:
No need to do anything with whisper, since I already asked zookeeper to
convert those. If you got any cases left though, you should probably best
provide an easy to use list for him to do the conversion to macros.
Removal of patches: no need to do so, just have them "rot" in here. Yes, I
could do so in theory...
