Hello mailing list recipients,

Until the need for a more permanent solution pops up, please allow me to offer 3 unofficial suggestions for editing the WML reference on the wiki.

First, if you edit a WML-related page that is not in the "WML Reference" category, please add it by putting the following text at the bottom of the page: [[Category: WML Reference]] (you can tell by looking for this at the bottom of the page)

Second, there is a template now to flag any WML that is only good in the dev version and not 1.0. You precede the new WML feature with the following text: {{DevFeature}}. That text dynamically turns into the template text, which is, currently, (v1.1+ or SVN trunk only).

What the template specifically says can be changed, but I think it's a good idea to have a standardized method of flagging when WML is only good for post 1.0.

Finally, remember not to delete anything that is valid for 1.0. If a new feature deprecates, obsoletes, or replaces a bit of 1.0 WML, document the new feature below the old feature and mark it with {{DevFeature}}.

Perhaps in the future 1.0 documentation will be dropped, or it will be split into another wiki, or side-by-side will become the norm... deciding this is above my pay grade. For now, it is helpful to keep things organized.

Thanks,
Scott
