I wanted to raise the topic of autosaves here on the ml. There are
several things that I think at not so good for the users.
1) Does it really make sense to have an autosave at the end of the
turn? This only animates the user to "save-load" until the wanted
results in the fights occurs, not to think over their overall strategy. When
seeing that I
used some wrong strategy it would be better to have the save at the
beginning of the turn.
2) Often it takes some time until I realise that I used a wrong
strategy. Right now it is "bad-luck" if you do not save by hand every
now and then. This results into some frustration when you have to
completely restart the scenario. I would prefer to have an automatic
save every 5th turn or so. This would reduce frustration a bit.
This one should be deactivateable in the preferences. So you can
choose to have an autosave every 5th turn or not to have so. We would
have to be carefull about overwriting existing saves with the
autosave. I would suggest something like
"scenarioname-turnnumber-autosave" for the name of the save.
I think this change could reduce frustration especially for beginners
a bit.
I would like to hear your thoughts about this.
